Lily Missionary Baptist Church
services were first held in a tent at 1117 Deyo Street. The first church
building was
erected on May 18th, 1948 and the church was incorporated on November 3, 1949.
Reverend W.G. Wade was
ordained on September 26, 1948. Service and a program was held at 4:00
p.m. Preachers present for the service were Reverend S. C. Burt of Battle
Creek, Michigan, Reverend Reed of Pontiac, Michigan, and Reverend Dinkins
of High Street Baptist Church in Jackson, Michigan.. The officiating
minister was Reverend S.C. Burt,. Reverend Burt preached an impressive
sermon following the ordination.
The Church prospered and
grew for thirty eight years under the late Dr. George Wade. In 1979, a new
Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall were added at a cost of $100,000. Reverend
Wade passed away in March of 1987.
The church continues to
realize growth and progress under the leadership of Reverend Jams. L.
Hines who became the Pastor in March of 1988. Under his leadership a new
Church and faith based Missions Center was completed in March of 2001. The
total cost was $4,000,000. The church is the parent company of the Lily
Missions Center. The Center will provide programs and services for the
youth of Jackson and the community.
Lily Missionary Baptist
